A septic contractor's site, built around what is under the lawn

The first of these the owner asked for before we built it. His brand, his photographs, his licence numbers.

The brief

What the site had to do.

Septic work is invisible by definition and regulated by the state, so the two questions are always the same: what is actually under my lawn, and are you licensed to touch it? The site had to answer both before the visitor scrolls, and it had to use the business's own identity rather than something invented.

01 / THE HERO

The ground cut away

A night sky with an Oregon fir treeline, then the ground opened up beneath it: soil strata, the tank with its risers, the inlet from the house and the drain field laterals running off to the right. The layers separate as you scroll. A small emerald gem glints in the deepest layer — the business is called Hidden Gem.
02 / BRAND

His logo, redrawn as vector

The existing logo is a black faceted diamond under a blue water drop, only available as a 636px JPEG with the wordmark baked across it. We redrew it as a vector in his exact green and blue so it stays sharp at every size, and used the same mark as the favicon and in the ground.
03 / TRUST

Licence numbers as rotating seals

CCB, DEQ and CPI numbers set into three slowly rotating seals, with the line "every number on this page is public record — check any of them before you book". For a trade where an unlicensed installer is a genuine risk to the buyer, that is the strongest thing on the page.

How it was built

The same standard on every one.

Under 100KBthe whole page, over the wire
3 requestsand no images at all on first paint
3–5 daysfrom first call to a link you can open
4.5:1contrast minimum, checked on phone and desktop

Every page is checked for colour contrast, tap-target size, form labelling, heading order and horizontal scrolling at desktop and at 390px before it goes out. The animations stop for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion. More on what we do for trades in Cottage Grove.

nothing like it.
